Testimony

Islamic Girls’ Development Foundation was formed to help young Muslim girls feel more comfortable about who they are, interact with other Muslim girls and develop their self- confidence especially in career development. IGDF is also to create a bond between young Muslim girls. IGDF as it has been created, is to mentor young Muslim girls to have confidence in themselves and imbibe religious and moral values in us so as to stand firm in our deen ( Islam).

For me personally, Islamic Girls’ Development Foundation has empowered and encouraged me to accept myself and be bold and confident enough to stand for my religious rights. Being part of the mentorship program has also helped me in my career development and also financially in my schooling.

IGDF has recently helped us in school during Ramadan. There has been provision of most items to us in school. Food for suhur, fruits for iftar and also organised a grand celebration for us on Eid day for those of us in school. For the first time, Ramadan in school and Eid celebrations were very successful.  Alhamdulillah.

Thank you Islamic Girls Development Foundation (IGDF). May Almighty Allah bless us all.

Testimony

May peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be upon us all.

My name is Rabiatu Ismaila , a girl of 16 years of age  and a resident of Nsawam Adoagyiri.

To start with, I will like to thank Almighty Allah for the establishment of this noble foundation—Islamic Girls Development Foundation. IGDF’s mentoring program was the foundation I needed to better myself as a young Muslim girl.

It is  a great privilege to be part of IGDF’s mentorship program.

Before I got assigned a mentor through IGDF, I was very afraid to perform my swalat in school because I was once verbally abused because of performing my swalat. I also had little or no idea about my future career.

Alhamdulillah by Allah’s grace, the establishment of IGDF’s mentorship program has empowered me to perform my swalat in school without any fear or timidity. Also, with regards to the mentorship program,  I have a very wonderful woman as my mentor. She has given me a fair knowledge about my future career and also encouraged me to do well in every aspect of my life.

I thank all the leaders of IGDF for this wonderful mentorship opportunity. May Allah SWT reward you abundantly for all you have done for us and will do for us in the nearest future. All I will say to you is وجزاكم الله خيرا

Khadija Bagnaba

Testimony

My name is Khadija Bagnaba and I am  honored to be part Islamic Girls Development Foundation’s mentorship program. As we all know this mentorship program’s aim is to mentor and  nurture young Muslim girls to become a better version of themselves.

Prior to being part of this wonderful mentoring program, I was always contemplating on what career path to choose in the future.

I was also not assertive in certain situations in my life.

After I joined IGDF’s mentoring program, I can proudly say that Alhamdulilah I now know the line of work that I would like to do in the future, Insha Allah.

The mentoring program has provided me with knowledge that I will hold on to for the rest of my life. I am a more confident, intelligent, and strong Muslim girl because of my mentors and fellow mentees who push me to be the best version of myself. Through little advices and small talks with our beautiful and lovely mentors, I have been able to learn one or two things that is helping me in my life .

I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone pushing this foundation to help Muslim girls around the globe . May Allah SWT make it easy for you all.

ASSALAMU ALAYKUM.

Islamic Girls’ Development Foundation’s mentorship program seeks to provide mentorship and guidance to Muslim girls in both second cycle and tertiary institution.  My life before joining IGDF’s mentorship program was one of low self-esteem. I was a very shy person who found it a challenge to speak in public. I had poor communication skills. Wearing a hijab among my non-Muslim friends made me feel lonely and inferior. Worse of all, I had limited knowledge about my religion (Islam).

Fortunately for me, last year in the month of October, I was enrolled into the mentorship program. After a few days of participating in the program, I was given an adorable Muslim sister, Aunty Samira, as my mentor. I was so elated after my first interaction with her on the phone. I spoke a lot about school and how observing and practicing my faith in such an environment was a challenge.

My participation in the mentorship program has really impacted positively in my life. I have become so confident and much knowledgeable about Islam. I now wear my hijab with so much pride and comfort. Observing and making salat has been made convenient for us in school, through the intervention of the mentors.

In terms of my academics, I have been able to focus more on my studies and thus, I have set goals which I aim to achieve in the near future. I have also been privileged to interact with my fellow Muslim sisters both in the secondary and tertiary institution occasionally through zoom meetings, annual get-togethers and chatting on Whatsapp.

I would like to say that I have really seen immense growth in my life after my participation in the mentorship program over the past few months. May Allah (SWT) richly bless all those behind its establishment and progress, and may the program’s motive of ensuring growth and impacting the lives of Muslim girls through mentorship be achieved day in and day out.

Bushira Ismail

Testimony

My name is Bushira Ismail. I am actively involved in IGDF’s mentorship program.

The mentorship program has come to help a lot of Muslim girls through Islamic Girls Development

Foundation, especially we the current students, and we are also the ones enjoying the benefit of the program from our older sisters.

IGDF really thinks about us a lot. Infact, during this Ramadan 2022, our iftar food was sponsored by IGDF. This helped parents too because it saved them money.

Also, due to my joining the mentorship program, I have become a proud Muslim girl.  Getting someone to check on you is not easy. But our older sisters who are our mentors have taken it upon themselves to do this consistently.

Since I got a mentor, I have been able to improve in life, thanks to my mentor who always makes sure she hears from me, and advises me. She even supports me financially when needed.

I can actually say that this mentorship program is really helping me and my other Muslim sisters and parents.

THANK YOU.
